Greetings one and all! It is with a heavy heart that I
must now bring this blog to a close. I would like to offer heartfelt thanks to
all of the good eggs who have read, commented or emailed along the way, you
genuinely made it all worthwhile! My time at Hidcote is now over; the dream is
dead. The three years I spent there were amongst the best of my life and I’m
grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to share some of the glory with you
through this blog! I’m now employed at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew so I now bid you my warmest and most cordial cheerio! Please
click here for more of my Wodehousian horticultural adventures, as I make an
attempt to rekindle the dream, phoenix-like, from the ashes.

But what a wonderful experience you have had and what an amazing experience you have ahead of you. I wish I was younger and not saddled with a mortgage so I could do something similar
Thank you for the ride.
Thanks for sharing this with us. Looking forward to reading the next chapter!
Onward, Dear Bertie! What a wonderful experience Hidcote must have been. And, thanks to you, we were privileged to come along for the ride and share your insider's view. But the best gardens are always the ones we have yet to visit and so, in that spirit, I look forward to the telling of your future adventures. Cheers.
Good luck! I have some friends that did the Kew course and I did an internship there. Even though I was only there for 3 months I really loved my time there. Very pleasant place to work.
The bigger the heart, the larger the break. Soon you will incorporate all the wonder of your past at Hidecote into who you are and the heart will heal. But I for one will miss your wanderings on that hallowed ground!
One of my gardening mentors told me that you are not a real gardener until you have killed a few (or many) plants. I suppose the same is true of dreamers... some dreams die so that we can come up with new ones. Looking forward to Kew!
I have so enjoyed visiting this blog. The thing I love most every time I venture outdoors is I am always surprised by something. Always something new to discover. I'm sure you will have many new adventures. And how brainy are you going to be with all this studying!! I hope you'll continue to pop by my blog from time to time and when I need expert advice I'll be tracking you down x
you've brought us some unforgettable images and the delight of puttering behind the scenes. Thank you, Bertie!
