This weekend and next a truly splendid evening event is occurring here at Hidcote; ‘The Enchanted Garden’ (great name!). Two chaps have decked the garden out in the most dazzlingly beautiful concoction of coloured lights, highlighting some of the garden's best features and creating some fantastic effects with various intensities of light. This time last year when this event took place we had just entered that bitterly cold snap, and I’m thankful that this year however the unseasonably mild temperatures continue! Detailed information is to be found here.

This is becoming very popular. They do it at Cambo Gardens in Fife and I think it's been set up at the Plant Hunters Garden in Pitlochry. Kind of magical, I think...
Looks beautiful and a lovely idea. Thanks for sharing the photos, as always Bertie:o)
Aaahh. Your first photo is a classic, Bertie. An excellent way for people to understand how gardens can be engaged with.
The Plant House in blue is stunning - the photo has a 3D quality to it.
I was there on Friday evening. If you live close enough, do go along and have a look!
The mirror poos was a dark mirror, beautifully reflecting the cherub with fish fountain - with eerie ripples of light cast on the tall hedge behind.
The beech alley was awesome - like something out of Lord of the Rings.
I saw Hidcote in a very different light (if you'll pardon the pun ;D)
Aaarrrgghhh! Sorry!!! That should read mirror pool!
Bertie - do edit my post if you can. PLEASE!!!!!
The first photograph is stunning! I wish that I lived a little closer to Hidcote so that I could visit it all lit up. (I got the info. from the botanical gardens, Bertie, and have added it to my blog.)
Prue I am unable to edit your comment, sorry!
Thanks for trying Bertie. My excuse is that I've been feverish with a nasty bug.
What Ho Bertie...
Exquisite pictures... how I’d love to visit Hidcot ‘s ‘Enchanted Garden’ and enjoy the new dimensions and mystery the illuminations give to the trees and hedges... it must be stunningly beautiful.
Received e-mail from my friend in Wichcombe last evening, she is visiting Westonbirt Arboretum this weekend.... ‘Enchanted Christmas’, a similar event, I think they even have a choir singing too. How wonderful.
It’s at times like this I long to be back in Gloucestershire.
Best wishes - Marion - Wales.
